Each new day in Kashitu, means we a little closer to this years goal.

Construction work continues, and the new classroom is gradually beginning to take shape in its entirety. We are still laying bricks, and further courses of masonry are slowly raising the perimeter walls. This time, however, what comes next is also clearly visible—openings for windows and doors are being created in the masonry. The building is thus taking on a more concrete shape, and the individual rows of bricks are slowly turning into a space that will soon resemble a real classroom.

A great deal of work has also taken place on the composting toilets this week. Igor and Petr are working on prototypes designed to demonstrate how the entire system can function directly under the conditions of the Kashitu community. At the beginning of the week, they set to work on the formwork and prepared the structures for the subsequent concrete pouring. Before use, the timber was treated with used engine oil, which helps protect the material from pests and ambient moisture, extending its lifespan. This was followed by the actual concrete pouring, marking another important step toward completing the first prototypes.

Alongside the construction work, life around the local fields does not stop. Burning of parts of the vegetation is underway, alongside soil preparation for the next agricultural season. Work in the fields is one of the daily scenes of life in Kashitu, serving as a reminder of how closely the entire project is linked to local agriculture and the community's livelihood.

The past few days also included a visit to Vinjero. Meeting with people from surrounding communities is important to us, not only for current activities but especially for building relationships, sharing experiences, and exploring further opportunities for cooperation between Kashitu and its surroundings.

And the local women are not idle either, as they participate in preparing marketing materials. New posters are being created to help introduce individual activities and products to the wider area. Here, too, it is evident that the development of Kashitu is not just about buildings and infrastructure. Skills, experience, and the personal initiative of people who want to be an active part of the change are also gradually emerging.

Piece by piece, something much larger than just a new building or a few toilet prototypes is being created. Every additional wall, every prepared area, and every new idea pushes Kashitu a bit further. And it is in these daily steps that the long-term vision turns into reality.
