Kashitu School at Maker Faire Brno 2025
This year, on October 18 and 19, the Maker Faire festival took place in Brno for the fifth time. It is an event supporting the creative and technological community, popularizing modern technologies and a creative approach to problem solving.
Our team also participated this year, and among programmers, 3D printing enthusiasts, and game developers, we had the opportunity to present the Kashitu School project at the event. The main attraction at our stand was a manual brick-making machine where children could try their hand at making their own bricks from compressed clay. Meanwhile, the parents of the youngest visitors were more interested in the processes, materials used, and technical specifications of the construction. We also presented development activities taking place alongside the construction, such as carpentry, sewing, and woodworking workshops. There were also questions about daily life in Zambia and opportunities to help or get involved.
Over the weekend, we enjoyed great participation and engagement in the brick-making process, as well as a lot of joy from interacting with passersby of all ages. For many of us, the Maker Fair weekend was the first opportunity to present the Kashitu school construction project, work with the "brick maker," and meet other volunteers. Everyone quickly learned and fitted into the team, so the whole event went smoothly and in a friendly atmosphere.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year's event and other events throughout the year!
