Zambian Education

Secondary education is available for only 25% of the population. Tuition together with school location in large cities are two main reasons for low secondary education availability.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

• 1st - 7th grade 
• Private / free state schools / community 
• Graduation test 
• Available all of the country 
• In rural areas usually very long distances for children

HIGH SCHOOL

• 8th - 12th grade 
• Usually tuition 
• Secondary school alumni can teach at elementary school 
• Junior level (8th - 9th) available within elementary school 
• Senior level (10th - 12th) is missing in many areas

UNIVERSITY

• 3 colleges in total and several technical universities 
• Charged and thus unavailable for a lot of people 
• Higher education is limited in Zambia
