From dusk till dawn

The work of our construction manager Vašek is coming to an end, and in order to stay on schedule we are even working on weekends. In Kashitu, the WiFi was down for half the week, so nothing distracted us from the construction site. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our workers, we have achieved great progress – the masonry phase has been completed all the way up to the reinforcing ring beam! The new site manager, Honza, can therefore seamlessly continue with the construction, and at the beginning of next week we will be lifting the first roof truss. In addition to building the honey house, we have also started preparations for installing the photovoltaic system, which should be the final step of this construction period.

We are restarting the carpentry workshop! At first, the carpenters supported our construction team by preparing the formwork for the ring beam. Since the material for the beekeeping workshop's hives took longer to arrive, they meanwhile focused on making benches for the local church. This way, our work also has a positive impact on the whole village. Once the necessary wood was delivered

An intensive training program for beekeeping trainers is currently underway. People from different communities came to Kashitu and spent a whole week actively learning. They truly appreciated the valuable knowledge shared by our experienced beekeeper, Mr. Thomas. The workshop also included a presentation of our products – beekeeping suits, hives, smokers, and swarm boxes.

We opened our very first composter! This will allow the local community to make efficient use of organic waste for soil fertilization while also reducing the burning of trash.

In our remaining free time, we went on a safari trip together. In Nsobe, we visited the grounds of the local secondary school, met with the principal, and discussed many interesting organizational topics. Back in Kashitu, we held a farewell bonfire for Anežka, Vašek an Ondra, but in a few days the next group of volunteers - Zuzka, Michal, Viktor and Petr - arrived. The switching groups got the chance to meet during layover in Istanbul.
