No stopping in Kashitu: honey extractors have arrived, women continue sewing, and construction continues

14/11/2025

News from Zambia sounds optimistic – work goes on in Kashitu! Sewing machines are running at full speed, solar panels are supplying energy not only to the workshop, and beekeepers are preparing for the next big step. Every day brings a small step towards greater self-sufficiency.

Honey extraction and purifying machines from South Africa have just arrived for the beekeeping workshop, which will push the beekeeping project closer to success. At the same time, Ejah is conducting a regular monthly inventory of tools and materials. Construction is being completed on the Honey House, where tiles will be laid and finishing work will be done this coming weekend. Another ongoing construction activity is bricklaying for the planned chicken house. We have also received feedback that the solar systems are working flawlessly – the energy reliably powers the workshop, the teachers' house, and the guest house.

Good news is also coming from the women in the sewing workshop. They are currently working on skirts and coasters commissioned by Terka and are reporting sales successes: three beekeeping suits already have new owners, and more orders have arrived from Mpula.

Kashitu is simply buzzing with life – production is running, construction is continuing, and the workshops are starting to thrive. Right now, another group of volunteers is in Zambia with the aim of training locals to use the new equipment and helping with product sales. However, this will be covered in posts on Instagram, Facebook, and some of the upcoming news articles. Thank you for following us!
