The Kashitu School is growing: construction of the third building has begun

31/07/2025

The first group of volunteers is currently in Zambia and brings great news – the building's foundations are almost complete! The ground has been cleared, trenches dug, concrete poured, and the foundation walls built. Right now, the local team is focused on producing bricks, which need to cure properly before further construction can continue.

The preparations were carried out in close cooperation between the volunteers and the local community. Together, we secured materials, prepared the construction site, and planned the next steps. Now, the locals are continuing on their own, following the methods we've shared with them over the past two years.

What's next?

We've traveled to Zambia's capital, Lusaka, for meetings about a photovoltaic system that will make the school energy self-sufficient. Meanwhile, another group of volunteers will head to Kashitu in just a few weeks to take on the more technical parts of the construction. Until then, we remain in close contact with the local team – receiving regular updates and photos, and we're ready to offer advice remotely anytime. We're also watching to see how much funding we'll have this year – and how far we'll be able to take the project.

Will you help us get the building under the roof?

Construction is moving forward, and we look forward to sharing more progress with you. Our goal is to support the self-reliance and skills of the local community. We believe that education and access to information are key to creating change – and the school in Kashitu can be the place where that change begins.

Be a part of it with us!
