We Met at the Christmas Markets

27/12/2025

At the turn of November and December, we took part in several Christmas markets and sales held after church services, offering products from Africa. Thanks to the involvement of volunteers, we were able to introduce the Kashitu project to a wider audience, establish personal connections with visitors, and at the same time raise financial support for further activities in Zambia.

The first sale took place on November 30 in Kyje, where we were very pleasantly surprised by the strong interest. Visitors stopped by our stand, asked about the origin of the products and the story behind the project, and happily took African handmade items home with them. The atmosphere was friendly and open, which was also reflected in the total proceeds, reaching approximately CZK 16,000, supplemented by additional small tips.

Another sale followed on December 7 during church services held in multiple languages—Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian. Interest varied throughout the day, but there was particularly lively activity at the stand after the Slovak service. Some people chose to contribute financially to the donation box rather than purchase a product, which we also see as an important expression of support. Sales amounted to approximately CZK 5,000, with additional funds raised through voluntary donations.

A big thank you goes to everyone who contributed to the Christmas markets—both the volunteers at the stands and all the visitors who stopped by, showed interest in the project, and supported it. The Christmas markets confirmed that personal encounters and the stories connected to products from Kashitu truly matter and can reach many people.

And if we missed each other at the markets, there is no need to be disappointed. African products from our workshops are also available in our e-shop, where you can browse them at any time and support the project and the local community in Kashitu.
